How much of your day is actually happening now?
And how much of it is being shaped by something else?
01A sentence somebody said years ago.
02A response you are waiting for.
03A future you have already imagined.
04An expectation somebody never agreed to meet.
05A fear of what may happen.
06A need for life to become predictable before you allow yourself to relax.
Most of these processes do not announce themselves.
They simply run.
And when something has been running long enough, we may stop seeing it as a pattern.
We start calling it: me.
In EXIT 001, Nirmann Sir explores the invisible defaults operating beneath ordinary life and asks a deceptively simple question: who is actually running your life?
What may be running in the background?
01The outside world
When peace becomes conditional on people, outcomes and circumstances changing first.
02Yesterday
When memory stops being information and becomes the lens through which we meet the present.
03Tomorrow
When imagined futures begin creating real emotional reactions today.
04The need for certainty
When “I don't know” becomes something the mind urgently needs to escape.
05Inner occupation
The constant fixing, planning, replaying, anticipating and mentally negotiating with life.
06Automatic reaction
What happens before we have even noticed what is happening inside us.
If you didn't choose the default, who did?
- Family?
- Culture?
- Fear?
- Memory?
- Expectation?
- Experience?
- The need for approval?
- The need for certainty?
The point is not to blame where it came from.
The point is to see that it is there.
A story from Exit 001
Stop Covering the Earth
An emperor wants to make sure another thorn can never hurt his foot.
His solution becomes enormous: change the earth.
Until someone offers him something much smaller. A pair of shoes.
The thorn may be outside.
The shoe still goes on your foot.
One default we will look at
The outside must change before I can be peaceful.
Maybe the outside genuinely does need to change. A conversation may need to happen. A boundary may need to be set. A decision may need to be made.
The question is not whether we should act.
The question is: what happens inside us before we act?
Outer action. Inner rest.
This is an exploration you will also experience.
Nirmann Sir will open the subject through stories, observations and questions.
And then the exploration moves inward.
There will also be a guided experiential component designed to help participants notice the difference between constantly trying to arrange the world outside and returning to what is happening within.
You may leave with a different question.
Not: “How do I make this stop?”
But perhaps:
- What is actually happening inside me right now?
- What part of this is mine to work with?
- What is true now?
What are we questioning next?
